How to send a text message from email…

From any email program, or webmail site, you can send an email to a mobile phone.  The email would become an SMS text message on the recipient’s phone.  The major cell carriers have email address equivalents for their subscribers.  The trick is to keep the email short, both the subject line, and the body or content.

So if you want to send George a text message from your email account, and George is on AT&T, you would send the email to his phonenumber@txt.att.net 

The phonenumber below is 10 digits without the dashes e.g. 2165551234@txt.att.net.

AT&T: phonenumber@txt.att.net
Sprint: phonenumber@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile: phonenumber@tmomail.net
Verizon: phonenumber@vtext.com
Virgin: phonenumber@vmobl.com
Nextel: phonenumber@messaging.nextel.com
